International travel to Costa Rica is permitted. There are currently no requirements such as quarantine or health checks. International travelers can only enter Costa Rica through Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) or Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR).

All non-resident foreign travelers must provide proof of travel insurance, which includes full coverage of COVID-19 medical expenses and accommodation in case of quarantine requirements. Details of the insurance policy must be uploaded when completing the “health pass”.

Vaccine traveler exclusions apply

Travelers presenting a valid international certificate of full COVID-19 vaccination using an approved vaccine are not required to show proof of travel insurance. The last dose must be given at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Additional documents required

The Health Pass online form must be completed within 72 hours of departure.

Non-resident travelers must present a return ticket upon arrival in Costa Rica.
